Let's get to know each other
I'd like to share a bit about who I am with you, especially because if you are on my website, you might be considering entering therapy with me. Authenticity and openness are two of my core values. I would not be who I am today without experiencing the process of therapy myself. Therapy gave me space to learn more about who I am, and what gives me meaning and purpose in life. I want you to know that I understand how vulnerable this process is, and I am deeply honored that you are considering us working together.

What is therapy with me like?

Therapy with me is warm, supportive and interactive. I work with you, my client, to help build off your strengths and provide safety, relief, and tools to help you reach your therapy goals. I will bring in approaches from many different therapy theories to our work together- including Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Theory and mindfullness practices, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal theory, Gottman method couple and family theories, and other well-researched relational therapy theories. I am all about de-mystifying things and being authentic- I believe in suggesting an approach before we try it, answering your questions, providing and overview of how it can work, and getting feedback from you about how things are going. If something isn't your cup of tea, we will try something else- because there are so many ways of approaching therapy together.

I love to bring in humor, new ways to explore and express yourself by using guided visualization and art therapy, and effective step by step communication skills training, which can be especially useful with relationship therapy!

Often during our work together, I will invite you to think of emotions as places we go. It's my job to create a safe and supportive base that enables you to take the risk of sitting with hard or confusing emotions long enough that clarity and change can emerge, and I'll be there with you 100% of the way.
More about me as a human
One of my favorite things to do in Austin is hike the greenbelt, or kayak on Lake Austin. I'm an avid cook (I just wish the dishes would magically clean themselves) a parent to two incredible humans (one of whom just left for college), a spouse, a magic the gathering player, a proud cat mom, and an avid reader who especially loves to unplug by reading a sci-fi or fantasy trilogy.
